Board Spotlight - Elán Drennon
We are so pleased to introduce the newest member of the OHAAT Board of Directors, Elán Drennon. Get to know her better right here:
1. What is your profession and what is your favorite part of your role?
I've been so many things this lifetime. I am a lawyer by training and a teacher at heart. I most recently worked in corporate HR and have been a third grade teacher, worked in higher education, school district administration, in policy and compliance. My favorite part of this, and any role I've been part of, has been creative solutioning and unexpected Synchronicities.
2. What about the OHAAT mission and work really motivates you?
The simplicity of OHAAT's mission and work has been really motivating. We live in a complex world with many complex gaps and injustices, and OHAAT has been clear and steadfast about what the organization is seeking to accomplish--Getting beds for kids. Everyone knows the importance of rest, it's something so many of us have in common, because it impacts every aspect of our lives. OHAAT is approaching the need with a healthy dose of pragmatism and consistency.
3. What is your favorite part of being involved with OHAAT?
My favorite part of being involved with OHAAT is the people. Both the board and the staff are full of people who love to win together! Everyone approaches bringing the mission to life with all their gifts and talents leading the way. It has been a lovely experience to do work alongside so many smart, savvy servant leaders who are sincere in their commitment.
4. What was your favorite book to read at bedtime as a child?
The People Could Fly: American Black Folktales by Virginia Hamilton when my parents would read to me, and when I could create on my own I would devour anything by Judy Blume.
