Board Spotlight - Kayla Burley

Kayla joined the OHAAT Board of Directors last year, and she is passionate about driving positive change within non-profit organizations. Get to know a little more about her here:

What is your profession and what is your favorite part of your role?

As the Senior Director of Operations at Community Behavioral Health, a behavioral health managed care organization, my day never looks the same. I work alongside the Project Management Office, Facilities Management Department, and the Contracting and Procurement Department which all require different skills from me.  My favorite part of this role is the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the Philadelphia behavioral health system. We work every day to improve our processes so that we can continue to serve our members and providers.

What about the OHAAT mission and work really motivates you?

It's exciting to be part of an organization that recognizes and addresses such a crucial social need. Knowing that our efforts directly contribute to a child’s overall health and well-being, fills me with a sense of purpose. I focus a lot of my outside-of-work energy on developing interventions and identifying services to help children’s mental health, so the mission of OHAAT aligns well with my overall purpose.

What is your favorite part of being involved with OHAAT?

My favorite part of being involved with OHAAT is witnessing the impact of our Beds for Kids program. Seeing children receive not just beds and bedding, but helpful tips for healthy bedtime habits is incredibly rewarding. I am also motivated to hear more from people who receive our services through our new Community Advisory Committee so we can continue to grow OHAAT. The Board members also make this a fun experience!

What was your favorite book to read at bedtime as a child?

As a child, my mom always read “Stories Jesus Told” at bedtime to me. I will say I probably didn’t have a favorite book when I was a child, but as I got older, I was obsessed with the Gossip Girl series.
